Mr. Kauffmann has over 30 years of experience leading investment teams and managing income-oriented investment strategies for retail, high net worth and institutional clients. His unique and highly successful value approach to investing has led top quartile fund rankings and significant growth in assets under management. He has been a frequent commentator for several news organizations, including The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, Magazine, Financial Advisor, Pensions and Investments, and also a featured speaker at various industry conferences.
Prior to the formation of Bay Point, Mr. Kauffmann led the fixed income business within Citadel Asset Management, a $35 billion multi-strategy hedge. In 1996, Mr. Kauffmann was selected by ING (Voya) Investment Management to create and launch their flagship Core and Core Plus fixed income strategies. He developed the quantitative relative value framework used to identify value across the fixed income markets—a technique that has grown in popularity and is widely used today. As Chief Investment Officer of ING Investment Management’s Fixed Income business, he was responsible for the growth of the institutional and mutual fund assets, which exceeded $70 billion at his departure in 2009.
